TEPCO threatening farmers to cut the electoricity

Some farmers protested against TEPCO for causing damage on people's businesses and losing jobs. A mushroom farmer experienced over 7,000,000 yen profit decrease due to the radioactive contamination from the Fukushima nuclear plant accident. He no longer cannot pay for the electricity. He pays over 300,000 yen per a month for the electricity for the mushroom cultivating. He wanted to get the compensation from TEPCO for the damage. However TEPCO threatened him by stating that the sales decrease is only the damage from the rumors, so they cannot pay the compensation. Also, it said that if he cannot make the payment, it will stop the electricity, and they cannot do anything to the damages happen due to the cutting of the electricity. A perfect example of a company causing more damages through the ill management and no responsibility in the neighborhood.

　父の代から群馬でキノコ栽培をおこなってきました。キノコの栽培には施設内を18度程度に保つ必要があるため冷暖 房など電気が欠かせず、毎月平均30万円の電気代がかかります。

　福島原発事故の放射能問題でキノコがまったく売れなくなり、現在700万円以上の減収で、電気代が払えなくなって しまいました。

　東電は「風評被害だから損害請求は受け付けない」、「料金の支払いがない場合は電気の供給を止める」と通告してき ました。その通告書には「供給停止によりいかなる損害が生じても当社は一切の責任を負いかねる」とも明記されていました。

　僕は、東電に対して「あなたたちが起こした原発事故のせいで、僕らの商品は売れなくなったのだから、電気の供給停 止も猶予すべきだ」と訴えました。しかし、東電の職員は「出るとこ出たっていい。訴えるなら訴えてもらってかまわない」と居直ってきました。

　電気が欠かせないキノコ栽培は、東電に電気を止められれば終わりです。再建の道は奪われます。電気の供給停止の通 告は僕の家族にとって脅迫そのものです。
